Wooden Spoon High Five Challenge- 5 peaks in 55 hours

Come and have a ‘try’ if you think you’re hard enough!!!

Teams who enter Five Peaks before 31st January 2015 will receive a £1,000 discount from their fundraising

Teams of four (3 climbers and 1 driver) will assemble early on Thursday morning at the Legacy Royal Victoria in Llanberis for their team briefing and registration before they start their ascent of Snowdon (3,560ft). Once Snowdon has been conquered teams will make their way up North to the Lake District and on Thursday afternoon the short but sharp climb up Helvellyn (3,120ft) will begin. After the second peak has been achieved teams are invited to make their way to the local cricket club where they can have a quick shower and BBQ, before the gruelling drive to Ben Nevis (4,409). In the small hours of Friday morning teams will begin the trek up The Ben, giving the team driver a chance to catch up on some sleep. Once mountain number three has been climbed, our plucky climbers will travel to Cairnryan where they will board the ferry to Belfast. Here teams will get to experience our new addition to the ‘peak’ family Slieve Donard, at 2,790ft this is the baby of the challenge, but being peak number four will not prove an easy climb to everyone! After the climb, teams and drivers will take advantage of a much needed pit-stop before the final leg of the journey to Carrauntoohil (3,406ft). Saturday morning sees the teams begin their ultimate climb, the views from the top are well worth the blood, sweat and tears and teams will be welcomed back down to the smell of bacon sandwiches and Guinness!

This epic challenge finishes at The Dunloe Hotel, where teams are invited to join us for an evening of celebration and ceilidh dancing, before departing on Sunday morning to Dublin for the ferry home.

Teams who are unable to join us for the whole five peaks can have the opportunity to join us for a three peaks challenge on Mainland Britain (Snowdon, Helvellyn & Ben Nevis or for a two peaks challenge in Northern and The Republic of  Ireland (Slieve Donard and Carrauntoohil)

Support Crew

Support Crew

As with all of our challenges, a great deal of their success is down to the dedication and hard work of the marshals and crew.

Whether this is our family of voluntary marshals who await challengers on the mountain summits on the Wooden Spoon High Five Challenge, or our safety boat marshal out on the lake on the Great Lakeland  our role will always be to make sure your safety is top priority and we will never be far away from any challenger.

Our great team of marshals are all volunteers and they offer a wealth of knowledge and experience, having completed the challenges themselves they are fully aware of the task that lies ahead for our challengers and are there to motivate, make you smile and be supportive throughout your experience.

Challenge Office:

The challenge office lives and breathes the Spoon Challenges throughout the year and we guarantee that our love for Spoon and enthusiasm for the challenges will soon rub off on you! If we haven’t met you before (and even if we have!), we look forward to talking to you, exchanging ideas, and providing you with some great advice.

Some of you will already be familiar with the team at the challenge office and for those who are not; Kerry who works on London Marathon, Wooden Spoon High Five Challenge and Great Lakeland Challenge and Laura Nelson who works on the End 2 End and London to Monte Carlo are your main points of contact for the challenges and will happily answer any questions you may have regarding the challenges themselves, fundraising, banking etc.
